What do I do if I have lost the stylus to my Boogie Board?

Can I erase just a portion of the writing surface?

No, you cannot. The entire writing surface is cleared when the erase button is pushed.

What instruments can I use to write on the Boogie Board writing surface?

We recommend using our Boogie Board stylus, but any soft-tipped tool or even a finger will work. Nothing sharp as to prevent scratches to the writing surface.

Are Boogie Boards safe for use by young children?

Yes, Boogie Boards are safe for use by young children. All case and writing surface materials are made from impact resistant plastic. All case components are made from an ABS plastic material commonly used in many other consumer products. The LCD has passed toxicology assessment for safety.

Can the Boogie Board be used outside?

The Boogie Board is designed for use indoors, so it's not recommend for outside due to the damage that occur.

What if my Boogie Board stops clearing when pushing the erase button?

If your Boogie Board stops erasing, please check the batteries. After replacing the batteries and screen is still not clearing please contact our support team.

Why is the pen not capturing some of my words or lines?

The way you hold the Blackboard Smart pen can sometimes impact the way the pen records each stroke. When you write, make sure you hold the pen so the stylus tip is either at the top or the bottom, not sideways. Otherwise, you can sometimes miss strokes.

How does the pen save my notes?

The Blackboard Smart Pen has a small camera placed at the base of the stylus tip that captures every stroke written on the Blackboard with the Smart Pen template. The template has an embedded code that allows the camera to capture everything. The pen connects to the Blackboard app on your phone via Bluetooth and uploads all your notes once it syncs.

How do I stop my pages of notes from overlapping?

The pen instantly saves every stroke. When you're ready for a new page of notes, you must tap the stylus on the "CC" icon in the bottom before you start writing your new page. If you do not tap the icon, the pen will not start a new page and your notes will overlap–even if you clear the board.

If you do accidentally forget to tap the icon, not to worry. Within the app you're able to split out your note pages.

How do I separate my note pages that have overlapped?

If you do end up with a document that has overlapping captures, we have a feature called Split which lets you separate your writing and split it into multiple pages. Here's how to use the "Split" feature in the Blackboard app:

1. Press the thumbnail of the document you want to split;
2. Tap the "Edit" icon then select"Split" on the left;
3. Use the slider to move exactly where you want to split the writing;
4. Tap "Save" and you'll see your two different documents saved in the home screen.

How can I combine different pages of notes?

Sometimes you may want to combine two separate documents. Here's how to use the "Merge" feature in the Blackboard app:

1. Press the check mark box in the top right corner;
2. Tap the documents you want to combine;
3. Select "Merge" in the bottom left corner;
4. Choose if you want a Single Page or Multi-Page document and then the app will merge the two different documents into one.

How to remove and apply new templates?

The Smart Pen templates have a semi-permanent adhesive on the top, which allows it to stick to the back of the Blackboard so that the template doesn't move. If the template moves, it can impact the accuracy of the saved information.

When you are removing the template, be sure the adhesive comes off along with the template. The template should not tear as it is made with premium synthetic paper.

My pen won't turn on?

The Blackboard Smart pen should take approximately 90 minutes to full charge. If the pen battery is completely drained, likely the LED indicator will not light up. If this is the case, then we'd recommend charging it overnight. If this doesn't work, try doing a hard reset.

For the hard reset, hold down the power button for 10 seconds. Then charge the pen again overnight and then turn on the pen manually the next morning.

How do I remove the folio on my Blackboard so I can change the templates?

In order to remove the folio, open the folder and locate the clasp on the left-hand side. Slide the clasp to the left to allow the Blackboard to be removed from the two right-hand clasps. Once you've changed out the template, slide the Blackboard back into the right-hand clasps and attached the middle clasp back into position.

Does the Select-Erase feature work with Carbon Copy?

In this version of Blackboard Smart Notebook, the select-erase feature is not compatible. Think of the Blackboard Smart Pen as writing with a pen that you can't erase.

How do I pair my pen with my iOS device?

1. Download the Blackboard app for iOS and open;
2. Make sure Bluetooth is on on your mobile device.
3. While the pen cap is still on and the pen turned off, manually press the power button and hold it until the LED indicator on the pen is blinking blue. This indicates the pen is in pairing mode.
4. Press the CC icon in the bottom left corner. A pop up window will show up. Select Connect Pen
5. The app from their will walk you through the pairing sequence.

How do I pair my pen with my Android device?

1. Download the Blackboard app for Android and open;

How can I disinfect my Boogie Board product?

Boogie Board LCD tablet products are purposefully built to be easy to surface clean and disinfect. Simply use a non-bleach disinfecting wipe to gently wipe down the hard surfaces (including the face of the board), before allowing to air dry. Alternatively, you can spray a non-bleach multi-purpose cleaner on a soft cloth and gently wipe down, before allowing to air dry.

Additional tips include …
• Avoid excessive wiping, which might cause damage.
• Keep liquids away from the product, unless otherwise noted for specific products.

How do I clean my Boogie Board?

We recommend using a small amount of LCD cleaner, found at most major retailers. When using this product, do not spray the writing surface directly. Spray a small amount of cleaner onto the cloth and apply moderate pressure in a circular motion starting in the center of the writing surface working to the edges.

How should I dispose of the Boogie Board?

The Boogie Board should be disposed of using methods common to other electronic devices that do not contain heavy metals or other hazardous materials. Disposal of the Li/MnO2 (Lithium/Manganese Dioxide) battery should be addressed separately. The proper disposal method for the battery may vary according to the nation or U.S. state where disposal occurs. Consult local agencies for disposal guidance as well as potential recyclability of some components.

Can the package be recycled?

Kent Displays has made a concerted effort to make our packages as recyclable as possible. Still, some components may not be recyclable. We continue to explore other packaging designs and materials to minimize non-recyclable components.
